No one attempted it until  William Webbs Eilles did.2.  In 1870 the first official rugby match  was played in Nelson. 3. 21 out of 26 of New Zealand's first rugby team turned out to be Maori! 4. KIWI FOR KIWI MORNING TEA!

I heard my stomach roar, i could see my mouth watering. All the treats on the class table were sitting there waiting for someone to eat them. My name was first on the list. Today on the 16 of the 10th we were donating money for the kiwi for kiwi conservation club. Last term our topic was endangered animals and now we are taking action to make a difference. We were selling all sorts of things outside our classes 1 to 6. We were selling things like biscuits, brownies, cookies,  fudge, lollies, scones, pizza muffins, cupcakes and sweet things adults would never allow their children to have. Hopefully we have raised enough money to save the kiwi. For example we raised exactly $600 hundred dollars. Only 1 out of 10 kiwi eggs survive. We hope that the money we raised will save all 10 of the kiwi eggs. We have done our part to help and we promise to keep going. (We hope you use this money wisely to protect the kiwi.) (blue for if my post goes to the conservation club.)

Zoo trip

It was the 21st of September yesterday, it was the day we would leave on a great adventure to the zoo. I had a great time and a great group to share the experience with. The tiger was incredible but my favorite animal was the intelligent Meekats. The way they sunbathed was so adorable. I loved the tiger when Miss Mitschack showed me the picture of the Bengal tiger laying upon the glass. I was really upset when we came back from the zoo and almost everyone  was sharing the great times they had seeing the Porcupine. I was annoyed because I didn't grab the chance to see it. It was great to finally visit the zoo again because the last time I layed my eyes on the sign was six years ago!

We finished our practicing on our zentangles and now are moving on to our animals. They take time but we are moving through it. Mr.s K struggles to get us to off our artwork because we enjoy it so much. In my spare time at home I love to do lot's of zentangles. Here's mine so far.

Reading

For reading this term i'm in the swordfish group. Next for our reading my group and I are going to read a book about Who created zoo's. We are reading about zoo's because for our Rakino 1&2 topic this term we are focusing on endangered animals. Here is the book we are going to read.

Buddy class

For three weeks we have been publishing small books for our buddy-class. I have a great buddy named Willow. I wrote a book with little quotes just for her eyes. I completed mine today and can't wait to present it to her. I really hope she enjoys it. I added illustrations and lot;s of colour. we haven't seen our buddy class for a while but I seem to see my buddy every day.
Here is the finishing result.

I had a great learning conversation with my mum. I really enjoy the way we do our learning conversations now that I can do all the talking. My mum also liked the modern way that we do things now. She really liked doing the reading activity when we had to draw a nogard. She also enjoyed playing fun with numbers with me. I actually look forward to doing more.

taste
I know that eyes detect light that bounces off objects and bounces back to our eyes so we can see the object.

The ear identifies vibrations in the air
when we hear things. Our nerves transfer information from our hearing point/ears to our brain which allows us to hear what we sense.
Delicate nerves in our skin recognize when the body feels pain or has gained contact with another object or living organism.
Smell are micro billows buoyant in the air. The nose will diagnose those billows and nerves inside our body will send specific messages to our brain and allow us to smell what we discovered.
The tongue has tiny particles called taste buds. The tongue will observe the taste that we have eaten and send a message through our nerves to our brain deciding if what we swallowed tastes good or bad.
                           Writing

For writing this term we are      focusing on           personification, alliteration and repetition. Here are some photos of what we have                 already done. My favorite language feature is  personification, here are                examples of each of the language features.Personification
The lonely tree waited quietly as its branches plummeted of the cliff side.
Alliteration
Dancing Darcey,did a dive.
Repetition.
The wolf howled louder and louder and louder at the moon light.

Today on the 26.6.15 Leah Darcey and I, created a kite. It was a great experience. Here is what it looks like.                                          And here is our plan.

Sunday, June 21, 2015

On Thursday the 18.6.15 we had made an experiment about traveling light. We put our beans in a shoe box and attached cardboard shelves inside the shoe box.

Our objective is to find out how plants grow under different sources of light. And here is our hypothesis

Measurement

This week I have been learning about  measurement. We have been creating our own gardens for Mandy. Here is what I created. and here are my calculations. The tricky part
was getting all the measurements accurate. The essayist part was doing the calculations. Next time I have to make sure to be happy with the first deck I create because it got a lot more difficult to recreate.

Here are the rest of the thinking keys.

For the last two weeks our classroom has been working on light thinking keys. There are twenty activities and I was able to complete all 20. My favorite activity was the picture. It looked like this. Here is what I made out of it. The hardest key was the commonality. Which is find common points between sunglasses and a drink bottle. I got some answers eventually. What I learnt was not every thing you think looks easy isn't as easy as you think. I also really liked the invention to finding a toilet in the dark.

Science day.
What an exiting day. It was Friday what we called science day. All of room 1&2 were doing six different rotations to do with our topic light. We had groups of six. I had some very exited people in my group. The rotations were prism play, make light bounce, reflection investigation, concave and convex, colored card ice cubes and science activities on the computer. my first activity was concave and convex this was so interesting. We used spoon's as our concave and convex equipment and torches to show the reflection. We held the torch to either the concave or convex side and see the reflection on the plain white wall. Well that was fun lets move onto the second activity. Second was reflection investigation. For

ANZAC day was so nice. I know its supposed to be a day to remember the people who fought and died for us, but it was so sweet how every one remembered them and honored them.
We are learning how to write explanations.
